Not medical advice

The app is for general information only. It is not a substitute for a doctor, allergist, or pharmacist. A product with no flagged ingredients only means the app found no match in the data it has. It does not mean the product is free of your triggers or that it is right for you.

You are responsible for reading the actual label of every product before you eat, take, or use it, and for asking your doctor about your own diagnosis, triggers, and treatment.

Data comes from Open Food Facts, a crowdsourced database, and may be incomplete or wrong. Always check the label.

Acceptance of these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and WILLIAMS TECHNOLOGIES LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company (“we,” “us”). By downloading or using the app or this website, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Who may use the app

You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and supervise your use. The app is for personal, non-commercial use.

License to use the app

We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, as allowed by these terms and the app store's rules. We keep all rights not expressly granted to you.

Product data and third-party sources (Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts, openFDA)

Product information comes mostly from Open Food Facts and its sister projects Open Beauty Facts and Open Products Facts (household products). All three are crowdsourced databases run by the Open Food Facts association and available under the Open Database License (ODbL), with individual contents under the Database Contents License (DbCL) and product images under CC BY-SA 3.0 (see the Open Products Facts terms of use). The Open Food Facts association does not endorse this app. Some drug label data comes from openFDA. openFDA does not endorse this app, and this app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

We don't create or control this data. It may be incomplete or inaccurate, may lag behind a manufacturer's formula changes, and may differ from the package in your hand. The app's ingredient matching may also miss or mis-flag ingredients. Third-party services and links are governed by their own terms.

Donations and in-app purchases

The app is free. Donations are optional tips. A donation does not unlock features or buy any product, service, or support commitment. Purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play under that store's terms, and refunds are handled by the store under its policies.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app or website for anything unlawful, harmful, or misleading;
• share photos that show people, faces, or personal information, that you didn't take, or that are illegal or offensive;
• send false, spam, or deliberately misleading reports or photos;
• copy, scrape, or resell the app or its data, except as the Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, and Open Products Facts licenses allow;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app, except where the law allows it;
• overload, probe, or interfere with our servers, Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts, or openFDA, or get around security or region limits;
• use our name or logo to suggest we endorse you or a product.

We may block reports or photos, or stop providing online features, to anyone who breaks these rules.

Photo of Ingredients

T0. Availability. Photo of ingredients is not available in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, based on your device's region setting. In those regions, the app does not capture, save, or upload label photos. If your device moves into one of these regions, label photos you already saved stay on your device for you to view or delete only.

T1. What it does. “Photo of ingredients” lets you photograph a food, cosmetic, or personal care product label. The app reads the text (OCR) and saves the photo, the text, the barcode (if any), and the date. You accept this section the first time you use the feature. If you choose “Not now,” you can still scan labels, but photos are not saved.

T2. On-device storage. Saved label records stay on your device (or in your browser's storage on the web) until you delete them or remove the app. You are responsible for backing them up. We cannot recover them.

T3. Sharing is optional. No photo leaves your device unless you tap Share on that specific photo. Declining to share never limits any app feature. Photos taken in the web version, and photos imported from your photo library, can be saved but not shared.

T4. License you grant when you tap Share. For each photo you share, you grant: (a) WILLIAMS TECHNOLOGIES LLC a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, crop, review, and submit the photo and its text and barcode to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), Open Beauty Facts (openbeautyfacts.org) for cosmetics and personal care products, or Open Products Facts (openproductsfacts.org) for household products, all run by the Open Food Facts association; and (b) everyone a license to the photo under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license (CC BY-SA 3.0), or any later version adopted by Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, or Open Products Facts, and to the text and barcode under the Open Database License 1.0 / Database Contents License 1.0. These licenses take effect when your photo is published.

We submit photos from a separate Alpha-Gal Wise app account on Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, or Open Products Facts. You agree that attribution may be given to “Alpha-Gal Wise users” or to that account instead of to you by name.

Once published on Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, or Open Products Facts, these licenses are irrevocable and the contribution cannot be withdrawn. All three keep public edit histories, and others may copy the photo. We may decline to submit any photo for any reason. Any of them may edit or remove contributions under its own terms, which you can read at openfoodfacts.org/terms-of-use and openproductsfacts.org/terms-of-use.

T5. Your promises. For each photo you save or share, you promise that: (a) you took it yourself; (b) it shows only product packaging or labels; (c) it contains no people, faces, body parts that identify anyone, or personal information (for example names, addresses, receipts, prescription labels, or screens), and nothing illegal or offensive; and (d) you have the right to grant the licenses above. The licenses cover only your photo. Packaging designs and trademarks belong to their owners.

T6. Not medical advice; accuracy. OCR can misread text. Always read the actual label, and ask your clinician about your own triggers. Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, and Open Products Facts data may be incomplete or inaccurate and must not be used for medical purposes.

T7. Withdrawal. You can stop sharing and withdraw shared photos that are not yet published in Settings → Label photos. We then delete them from our systems. Published contributions cannot be withdrawn (see T4). Shared photos are deleted from our systems right after review (published or rejected), and automatically if not reviewed within 30 days of upload. Saved photos on your device are kept until you delete them.

T8. Changes. If we materially change this section, we will ask you to accept again before you use the feature.

Intellectual property

The app, this website, and their design, code, and text belong to WILLIAMS TECHNOLOGIES LLC or its licensors. Data and images from Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, and Open Products Facts belong to their contributors and are used under their licenses. Product names and packaging belong to their owners. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, THE APP, THE WEBSITE, AND ALL DATA ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not promise that the app will flag every ingredient that matters to you, that any product is free of any ingredient, that data is complete or current, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WILLIAMS TECHNOLOGIES LLC AND ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, AND MANAGERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY ALLERGIC REACTION, INJURY, OR LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON THE APP OR ITS DATA, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE APP OR WEBSITE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$50.

Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Governing law (Oklahoma) and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please email us at support@alphagalwise.com so we can try to resolve it informally within 30 days. Any lawsuit must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Oklahoma, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.

Apple App Store terms

If you got the app from the Apple App Store:

• These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
• Your license is limited to using the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store Usage Rules.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and handling any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property.
• You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or listed as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must follow any third-party terms that apply when using the app.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

If you got the app from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your download and purchases.

Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your access to online features (like reports and photo sharing) if you break these terms, and we may change or discontinue the app. Sections that by their nature should continue (including the photo licenses for published photos, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) survive termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Each version has its own revision label and effective date, shown at the top. If we make a material change, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. For Photo of ingredients, we'll ask you to accept again (see T8).

General

These terms and our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the app. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them as part of a merger, sale, or transfer of our business.
